Roman Forum Night Opening, from August 9 to October 25 2013. This year in addition to the usual appointment with ”Colosseum Night Opening”, every Friday, from 08:00 pm to 10:45 pm, evening tours of the Roman Forum.
Along the Via Sacra, accompanied by an experienced guide, you can retrace, under a whole new light, places that were once the monumental center of ancient Rome. The slopes of the Capitol and the Arch of Titus will frame this unmissable Roman Forum Night Opening.
Starting from the Basilica Emilia, the lights will guide you to discover the history, recreating the succession of columns that divided the space of the Basilica. Then you can admire the imposing Curia Iulia building, the ancient seat of the Roman Senate, the monument, with its beautiful marble floor and the remains of Byzantine paintings, will be entirely open to be visited.
Leaving the Curia you come across the Arch of Septimius Severus, which brings you the Via Sacra, and then on to the Arch of Titus. Along this route you can admire the Temple of Antonio and Faustina, erected in 141 AD, and the Temple of Romulus. The visit will end on the podium of the Temple of Venus and Rome, inaugurated by the successor of Hadrian, Antoninus Pius in 141 AD instead of the vestibule of the Domus Aurea.
From here you can admire, from an unique perspective, the Colosseum illuminated under the light of the moon, will reveal all of its millennial charm. The guided tours, organized by the Special Superintendence for the Archaeological Heritage of Rome, consist of groups of up to 25 people and are carried out in Italian or in English at fixed times.
