Ca ‘d’Oro Entrance ticket
Entrance ticket for the Ca ‘d’Oro – Franchetti Gallery will allow you to appreciate one of the most prestigious late Gothic palaces of Venice as well as the art collection of the Baron Giorgio Franchetti (1865-1927). This majestic palace is located in the Cannaregio district, overlooking the Grand Canal. Originally, some parts of the facade were covered with gold, and this is its name reason.
In 1916, Giorgio Franchetti donated his collections and the building itself to the Italian State, after it was restored in order to have back again its original splendor. The collection of Giorgio Franchetti includes furniture, paintings, medals, tapestries, bronzes and sculptures. This collection was expanded over the years, adding Renaissance works from religious buildings suppressed or demolished.
In the atrium of the gallery, ideally enclosed by the buildings and its luck, lie the ashes of Giorgio Franchetti.
